31 weeks today and while I'm sure it's been getting 'real' for Jonathan for a while now with all of the new baby planning he's had to do, for me, it's just now sinking in how close we really are.
I've started feeling the occasional contraction and while I still feel great, I'm definitely getting to the point where doing certain things on my feet for long periods of time makes me tired. Yesterday I was a chaperone for my son's field trip to a local farm. I had him and two other little girls in my group (all three in Kindergarten). We arrived at 10am and left at 1:30 with mostly walking all day. By 12:30 I was feeling it in my lower back and just wanted to sit and I was so tired that evening that I went to bed at 7:30! lol
Also, next Wednesday, November 26th is our next appointment and then we're down to 2 weeks visits. I also received my breast pump from PMB and my insurance is sending another. Currently, the plan is for me to breastfeed initially once the baby is born and then in the week or two that they're here, we'll transition to bottle and formula. Jonathan didn't have any plans to breastfeed I think mostly because of the costs associated with it, as he'd have to pay me for the milk, pay for supplies, and also shipping which can get pricing. I offered that since he'll being staying here with us for a bit after baby comes until all of the legal stuff is taken care of, I'd be willing to breastfeed for free since it's right here and it helps me establish my supply better than a pump anyway.
Once him and baby return home, if he still doesn't want any more breastmilk, then I'm going to continue pumping for Prolacta Milk Bank (PMB) and local moms who need it. PMB provides a hospital grade Medela pump and all shipping supplies for me to pump for them at $1 and oz and then they use it to create milk products for premature babies that they sell to the hospitals. For tax purposes I will only be selling 1000oz a month to them so anything I produce over that will get donated to local mommas/babies who need to supplement or can't breastfeed for whatever reason. Now I just need to order my Freemie kit for the Medela pumps! lol
The big holidays are coming up, I'm getting my doula website/business up and running this next month and preparing for a childbirth class I'll be starting to teach in February at the hospital we're delivering at (Cedar Park Regional Medical Center). There's a lot on my plate so that's also making it go by quickly. I can't believe that we have about 9 weeks left!
