Jonathan will be here in a week! I can't believe that we're so close. Everything is still looking great. Jonathan Skyped into my appointment on Thursday and go to hear the heartbeat. He, of course, also asked Dr. Hinds about doing vaginal checks and explained that there wasn't really a need for it. OF course, Jonathan still wants to know. I guess a couple of his coworkers' wives are expecting in the next few weeks and they keep reporting on their 'progress' of Xcm dilated, X% effaced. I tried explaining to him that those numbers mean NOTHING! lol With my daughter, I there was nothing going on down there and I went into labor the next day. With the twins, I was almost 4cm and 60% effaced for a couple of weeks and never went into labor. All a vaginal check does is tell you where I'm at at that very moment in time. It doesn't give you ANY indication of when labor will happen. So, I think Jonathan was a little disappointed but he'll have to deal. I'm not having hands shoved up there for nothing. lol Dr. Hinds and I assured him that to the best of our knowledge without a crystal ball, we were confident baby would stay in until Jonathan and his mom get here next weekend. ;) Jonathan later told me that he'll relax once he's actually here in town, which is completely understandable! I told him we have to make a ton of plans for the first few days they're here since babies like to ruin plans. Otherwise we'll be sitting around waiting for another three weeks for anything to happen! haha
Thursday evening I went to bed, having some heartburn that I was fighting with papaya enzymes. I fell asleep and then woke up around 1 am to use the restroom. I've still got this lingering cough from being sick a few weeks ago. It's getting better but still hanging on. So as I'm sitting on the toilet in the dark, I started coughing a little bit and was coughing up a little junk. All of a sudden, I knew I was going to throw up so I flipped on the light and turned around just in time to make it into the toilet. As I'm heaving up all the days food (gross, I know), Sorrell is talking to me through the door because he's a sympathetic puker, letting me know that if I need anything, he's there. Suddenly, a bunch of fluid starts running down my legs!! I finally stopped heaving enough to say to Sorrell that I thought my water had just broke! My first thought was great, I just spent all day convincing Jonathan that we were good time wise and now I have to call him and tell him to book the next flight out, then start getting the house and things together before birth waves really start. Sorrell asked me if it was my water and I told him that I wasn't sure just yet. I rinsed my mouth out and brushed my teeth all the while moving my hips all around to see if more fluid came out. Finally I told Sorrell that I think it was a false alarm and I just peed myself (lovely!) and was going to hop in the shower either way but I'd know by the time I was done if it was my water or not.
Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on the side of the story, I had just peed on myself from the combination of throwing up and having a 38 week baby sitting on my bladder. Isn't pregnancy lovely!? lol I cleaned myself and the bathroom up and was able to go back to sleep but it was an eventful hour or so. Clearly I need to make sure my heartburn is under control BEFORE falling asleep...at least while this cough is still clinging on. :P
