Well, I have truly fallen behind in sharing my journey with you so let me catch you up!
John got things set up with the lawyer and had contracts drafted. Fortunately, since we had gone over everything before hand, there were only a few minor changes that needed to be made to the first draft and they were mostly clerical or changing up the wording on some things a bit - nothing that either of us didn't expect. So once we had the first draft and my lawyer reviewed it, we had the final draft prepared and signed within two days.
We attempted to do our first inseminations in December but my cycle decided to get back on track with my normal 28-29 day routine and so I ovulated several days before John had planned to come out. So we cancelled that month and moved on to planning for January. John booked a flight to come out January 8-12, which was my new projected fertile window. He arrived on Friday, January 8th and we did an insemination in the afternoon. We did another on Sunday morning, Monday afternoon, and then Tuesday morning before he left town. I go a positive OPK on Monday and my ClearBlue monitor hit peak on Tuesday. Two days later my temps confirmed that I ovulated on Tuesday so we had done our inseminations perfectly within my fertile window. Now al we had to do was wait and see.
I went up to Dallas that following weekend for a meeting with the rest of the National Executive Board of my sorority that I sit on. I felt kind of crappy Saturday night into Sunday morning but didn't want to think too much about it because 1) no point in getting my hopes up yet and 2) it was way too early for anything to really be happening.
On Wednesday evening, 8.75dpo, I had one of the midwives at the birth center draw my blood to see if it came back positive. It came back "less than 5" which is basically negative. But I just had this feeling that I was pregnant. So Friday morning I broke down and started peeing on sticks.
B.F.P.!!
Well, actually, more like big faint positive instead of big fat positive but it was there....on 4 tests and 2 digitalis.

So, I went back in for another blood test on Sunday, now CD12, and it came back 77. I must have JUST been at a 4 or 5 for that first blood test!
This past Monday, now 10 weeks pregnant, I went to the VA to establish care payments and they have to do a blood test for their records to verify pregnancy. Well that one came back 53,756! Lol I think it's safe to say there's a pretty healthy bean growing in there.
I broke the news to John by sending him a diaper bag with a baby blanket, some silly pregnancy and new dad how-to books, a bunch of silly dad survival things like power bars, lip balm, chocolate, etc. And at the bottom of it all was a card that had one of the pregnancy tests in it. He was surprised and ecstatic!!
Now we are just waiting for things to get going. My first appointment with the midwives is in a week and our ultrasound is scheduled for Friday, May 13. John will be coming out for that appointment!
I've been busy with my apprenticeship and sorority stuff and am getting ready to go to Utah for 5 weeks for a midwifery intensive program so that will help pass the time and keep my mind of of the waves of nausea I've been experiencing. It's not terrible but enough to remind me I'm pregnant. I also have a strong feeling that this little bean is a girl. Though we may not find out until birth because John said he's thinking about waiting to find out, which would be AWESOME! I love surprise baby gender births. We'll see what he decides come May. Either way, I am so happy that everything worked out the way it has so far on the very first try and can't wait to bring this little baby into the world for John!!
