I went into the doctor on Monday to have bloodworm done to see what my hCG level was. The first time, they only did a qualitative test, which only says positive or negative. So I had to go back in that afternoon to redraw it and then make an appointment for Tuesday morning to get the results and speak with the doctor.
Tuesday morning I was told that my hCG was 89.3!
Now, I knew that this was a new baby and not just residual hCG in my system from the miscarriage, because I had gotten a negative pregnancy test after the bleeding stopped and now positives that were getting darker. However, my doctor wants me to get serial draws to check that it's rising properly and then will release me to my OB/midwife once it hits 10,000.
I think it's stupid, but whatever.
So I went back in this morning. Now it's at 331!
Not gonna lie, there's a part of me that wondering if I managed to ovulate more than one egg and we've got multiples in there! I know, I know...beta numbers REALLY mean nothing and only an ultrasound can tell but man, all signs are pointing to yes and my mind is racing.
Here's why:
1) I've used fertility drugs in previous journeys so already, my system is jacked up
2) I have a history of twins (twice!)
3) I'm over 30, have had multiple pregnancies, and have a higher BMI (all things that increase the chances)
4) I got a positive at 8dpo and a dark one at 9dpo and these are the highest betas I've had at this point (and some of the highest for this point among my other surrogate friends!)
I'm going in for another beta on Monday and if that one is still seeming to be significantly higher for me, I might try to get in for an ultrasound next Friday or later to see if we can count sacs...just for my own piece of mind. ;)
