I have a lot of updating to do.
On March 27, at 12w6d, I had some spotting. It was very little and I we had done PAPs in clinic the day before so I didn't think anything of it. The next day, CA, one of the wonderful women who works at BetterBirth, suggested I do a quick ultrasound with their tech just to make sure. We should have seen a 13w fetus but instead all we saw was a sac. Apparently, I had a blighted ovum. Fertilization and implantation had occurred and then for whatever reason, it had stopped.
So the CNM prescribed me Cytotec to induce a miscarriage because clearly my body wasn't getting rid of it on my own. I took the Cytotec and waited. And waited. Nothing but some heavier bleeding occurred. So one week later on April 4, we did another ultrasound and it confirmed that it was still there. Another round of Cytotec was prescribed and taken.
This time I had a little more cramping and bleeding but still nothing like I was told to expect. So, I did yet another ultrasound a week later on April 11 and to no surprise, the sac was still there.
I decided to go in to the hospital to have a D&C done to remove everything. At the hospital, the had to do another ultrasound for it to be an official diagnosis and since they have more equipment, they did a transvaginal ultrasound (instead of the transabdominal I had been doing) to see things better. That ultrasound revealed that it was not actually a blighted ovum but that there had been a fetus that had passed around 6weeks gestation. I had the D&C done that day in Utah.

On May 20 I had some spotting. John and I had already discussed the fact that we wanted to try again so I was just waiting for my cycle to return so that I could start tracking it. I had suspected that this was it and confirmed it the next day when bleeding was heavier.
John and I planned for me to track a cycle to get an idea of what it would do after the miscarriage and use that information to plan on him coming out the following month. I knew that my cycle was still wonky when CD14, 15, and 16 came and went without elevated fertility showing on my monitor. Then all of a sudden, on CD17, I got High Fertility.
I texted John letting him know and told him that we had two options. We could use the information to TRY and plan a time for him to come out next month, but that there was a chance we'd still be booking flights last minute since I wasn't regulated yet, or....we could take a leap and he could fly out within a couple of days and we could just try this month.
We had a couple of phone conversations about it and after looking at his schedule and everything, we decided to go for it this month! John came out on CD19 and returned back to New York the next day. We did an insem in the afternoon on Thursday (CD19). The next morning, I got Peak fertility on my monitor and we did an insem that morning and then again that afternoon before I took John to the airport. Two days later, my BBT spiked to confirm ovulation and I told John that we had managed to time it as perfectly as we could so now it was all up to Mother Nature.

Today is CD9. I was planning to wait until Wednesday or Thursday to test but figured since today is Father's Day, I'd go ahead and test and if it was negative (which I was expecting), then I'd go back to Plan A and test on Wednesday.
Well low an behold....that baby came up positive! And not even faint positive but dark! And the digital read it as pregnant too!
So, it looks like we have our rainbow baby on board!! I'm going in for a blood test this week and then will do an early ultrasound for peace of mind in a few weeks.
Here we go again!
