First of all, I have become aware that there are now some people out there actually following my posts. Thank you for your interest and I hope you enjoy it's craziness but for those times when I seem to babble on about nothing in particular, get on a soap box about something, or get way too personal, please don't judge. LOL :) I initially started this blog as a way of journaling what I was feeling and experiencing for myself more than anything and that's really how I treat it. I type things as they come to my head so it may seem more off kilter than I really am! And since you only recently started reading, I often forget that you're out there!
I started my cycle this morning so my HSG is scheduled for next Friday at 2pm in Tampa. Fortunately, the price is similar to the clinic in Fort Worth that we went through last time at around $200. I vaguely remember Russ saying something about Sarasota Hospital wanting to charge like $1200 just for the procedure!! Hence why we did it right before the IUI in Fort Worth. Plus, it will be nice to get that done before we move to Albuquerque on the 1st.
Speaking of Albuquerque…all of this birth center/midwife talk has got me thinking about how much I've wanted to become a midwife for some time now. It's actually something I've thought about since I was first pregnant with Amara. A couple of years ago, I got to thinking about it pretty seriously but was unable to find any local schools or apprenticeship programs to do it. Well…..I was absolutely DELIGHTED to find out yesterday that the State of New Mexico has a regulated midwifery apprenticeship program that once completed, qualifies for review by the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) and if the professional review of training qualifications are met, then I can sit for my National Exam and receive my Certified Professional Midwife certification. Squeal! :D
I spoke to the Director of Maternal Health at the New Mexico Board of Health today about the program and she gave me a lot of good information. Apparently, New Mexico was actually a leading state when it comes to officially recognizing midwives and standardizing certification of them at a state level. She is also forwarding my contact information to two of the State's top midwives with whom they work with all of the time to give me more information about it and help me find a Certified Midwife Preceptor in Albuquerque that I can talk to about apprenticing and training under. I'm pretty stoked!!
Anywho, these next few weeks are going to be crazy and exciting! We are currently packing up the house, Christmas is next week, then we're moving basically across country, then I've got my midyear meeting for the National Executive Board of my sorority in Phoenix, and then probably immediately after that we'll be heading to Dallas for our insemination (all with contract negotiation and cycle monitoring in-between). And then after that hopefully I'll be busy growing Baby!
