Wow, I just realized that it's been a little bit since I last posted anything! Nothing too exciting has happened on the the surrogacy end of things except that we managed to get both Jonathan's and our screenings scheduled at the same time. They are Wednesday, December 18th!
I'm very excited because one, this means that things are going to really start rolling but two (and even more importantly) we get to meet Jonathan in person finally!! He gets in before us on Tuesday so he's going to pick us up from the airport, we'll get checked into the hotel and then do whatever we want for the evening. Hopefully, the birth center will be available for a tour then so that we can get it out of the way. Then maybe we can all get diner together and have more time to talk.
Wednesday morning we'll check out, drive over to the clinic for our screenings and then maybe grab some lunch on the way back to airport, depending on how long things take at the clinic.
I can't wait!!
Now on the personal side of things, there has been a new development. Sorrell and I are moving the family out to Albuquerque at the end of the month. His mom lives out there all by herself and between her getting older and her nursing hours being cut all the way back to per diem, she needs some assistance. On top of that, we have been having some problems with the management at our apartment complex and are more than happy to get out of here. We've had an issue with the lady below us since day one and I think that we're the first people to actually stand up to her BS and not let her walk all over us and have had to call the cops on her before. Now we're getting notices saying that people in the building next to us heard my husband yelling at the kids with profanity at 6:00 in the morning and if we didn't address the issue, we'd be evicted for violating our lease! First of all…..um, no. My husband doesn't do that but even if he did, the day and time that these complaints were supposedly made, my kids were asleep and I didn't wake them up until after 7am. Riddle me that one, Batman.
So knowing full well that who ever said that it was us was either mistaken or flat out lying, we spoke to several neighbors, including ones in the building next to us, who all said that they were home and/or awake at the time in question and didn't hear anything. One guy is even right across from us and always has his window open. We took this info to the office and said that before they issue this kind of paperwork, they should fully investigate the claim. They said it's our word against the person who complained so they won't investigate it any further and the notice and complaint stays in our file. It's just been stupid stuff like this over and over here.
Anyway, Sorrell's mother offered to have us move in with her in a way that also told us she could use the help. It was only after we started speaking to her more about the idea that we found out about her work hours being cut and realized that she needs us more than she admits. And frankly, it'll be nice for us to be able to save some extra money each month as well and save up for our house sooner since even with helping her out financially it will be way less than all of our rent and utilities combined here. So we'll be packing up and heading out there on New Year's Day.
I made sure to let Jonathan know that this will in NO WAY effect our plans or timeline or anything between us. In fact, it's sort of easier because we'll be so much closer to the clinic in Dallas! lol
