The fatigue, nausea and general yuck-ness of the first trimester woes have kept me off of the computer for a couple of weeks now. It hasn't been miserable, especially considering that it's twins which usually means double trouble symptoms. But it's been enough to make me feel like a lazy slug who wants to do nothing more than sleep all day. At least I've only got a couple more weeks before it should start letting up and I'll hopefully be feeling more myself again.
I had my first appointment with one of my doctors, Dr. Lemay on Monday. It was your typical, uneventful early pregnancy check up. Hey there, how you doing, I'm your doctor, any questions? She was very friendly and excited about the surrogate journey. We very briefly discussed the unique situation and whether Grant and Russ were planning on being here for the delivery and whether I'd have them in the room with us, which of course, I will. My biggest concern that I approached her with was the prospect of vaginal delivery. I was very pleased to hear that all three of the doctors in the practice are experienced and comfortable with vaginal twin delivery (including breech delivery or Baby B if necessary) and in fact, prefer it over cesarean provided of course that the babies are relatively similar in size and Baby A is head down.
Whew! That's a load off of my shoulders! So many doctors these days are not experienced or comfortable with breech deliveries and automatically go to cesarean with twins, which is completely unnecessary.
My next appointment is December 20th at the perinatologist for a nuchal transparency ultrasound. My next regular OB/Gyn appointment is December 31st.
On a much more exciting note, I started feeling movement this weekend!! Saturday night I laid down in bed and being so still, I felt the distinct fluttery bubbly feeling of fetal movement. It lasted for about an hour. I didn't say anything to Grant and Russ right away to insure that it was the babies and not gas but I did mention it to my husband. Then, I felt it again Sunday afternoon and evening and I've felt it at least once a day since. It's very faint and only when I'm laying super still of course. But it is unmistakably the little ones and NOT gas! LOL Once you've been pregnant before, there is no questioning the difference between fetal movement and gas! LOL
I've already got a little bump and have had to upgrade (or is it considered downgrading?) to maternity jeans since I officially can't squeeze into my own pants anymore. I feel like a a fatty who just looks like I've been going overboard on the Krispy Kremes but everyone else says I look great.
