Okay, I know that this post is definitely going to fall in the TMI category but since others may have experienced it, will experience it, or are also currently experiencing it, I figured I might as well share.
Um how do I put this...I feel like I've been punched in the vagina!!! :-/
The muscles/ligaments/whatever-the-hell-it-is in my pubic area (like from the outer labia up along to the sides of the public mound) is KILLING ME! Sometimes it's just sore enough to notice it. Other times it hurts to move at all: to walk, to cross my legs, to lift a leg up, etc.
I understand that everything is stretching and pulling and loosing down there. And if I were, say 25 plus weeks I'd just assume it was pressure from the babies and my uterus and everything. But seriously!?!? I'm only 11 weeks and can barely walk sometimes. What's it going to be like when I AM that far along?
I never experienced anything like this with my own two pregnancies. Sure, maybe some pressure and discomfort later in the pregnancy when the baby was low and what not. Never this early and certainly never this bad!!
In my online search for information and relief until my next OB appointment, I've discovered a condition called Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD) that it COULD be. Yeah, thats right. My pubis may be dysfunctional.
I'm not sure though because evrything talks about the pain being more central and slightly higher where the cartilage connects the two pelvic bones whereas mine is more in the labial region but who knows. I hope that's not what this is because there's little to do to help it and apparently, it only gets worse, especially with subsequent pregnancies. If that's the case, I may be a one-time surrogate!
So, in the meantime I'll try the ice, pregnancy girdles, exercises, and chiropractic adjustments to try and ease the discomfort and then bring it up to my OB on the 31st when I go back. Hopefully, I'll get some answers and suggestions then!
If you need me, I'll be on my couch wincing in pain as I try to move as little as possible.
