Wow, things have been crazy the last couple of days! First of all, nothing is set is stone at this point but it's looking like Sorrell and I will be going to Dallas for the final ultrasound after all. But let me rewind.
I started my period on Sunday. Monday, I called to inform Dr. Kaufmann's office and Rebecca, one of his nurses, said that she'd talk to Dr. Kaufmann and find out if orders needed to be sent and then give me a call. When I hadn't heard back by Monday afternoon, Russ and I conferenced her.
She said that what was going to happen is that she would send orders to the clinic and lab down here and I would go today (Tuesday) for the baseline ultrasound and blood work and start taking Clomid. I'd take the Clomid for 5 days and go in again next Wednesday for another ultrasound. If my follicles looked good, then I'd trigger and we'd do the IUI on Friday. If they aren't mature enough, they'd wait a couple days and trigger then.
After some back and forth and lots of questions from Russ and I, we realized that we're looking at a much smaller window of time then we were originally thinking. This led Russ and I to come to the conclusion that it might make more sense for Sorrell and I to get to Dallas sooner. I think right now we're just waiting to get the results of this initial ultrasound to have a better idea of where I might be next week.
By the time we were all done chatting, the fertility clinic down here was closed. So I called first thing this morning. The doctor isn't in the office on Tuesdays. I called Rebecca to find out if it's okay for me to do it tomorrow or if I had to do it today. She said that tomorrow is fine but to just go ahead and do my labs today and to not start taking the Clomid until after she had the ultrasound results. I called the clinic here back to schedule for tomorrow and the lady told me that since the orders were for today, she had shredded it. She said to have them re-faxed and she would talk with the doctor about getting me in tomorrow and then call me back and let me know. I called Rebecca back and had her re-send the orders.
Then I went to Quest Diagnostics for my lab test. Apparently when Rebecca sent the fax to them, the top had been cut off and so my name wasn't on the order and the "Bill To" before FWF's account number had been cut off. After we FINALLY found the order and straightened up the billing confusion, I had my blood drawn. Good thing I ended up doing it today because they don't have same day results so Rebecca won't get them until tomorrow.
By 2pm I still hadn't heard back from the fertility clinic here and since they close at 4, I called to check on my appointment. After some hold time, the lady confirmed an appointment for me tomorrow at 1:30. I called Russ to let him know and to inform him that he needed to call the clinic to set up payment arrangements. While I was on the phone with him, he was on the other line with the company that he has to order my trigger shot from so he conferenced me in so that I could just give the representative my mailing address and save her a call.
So everything is taken care of for now. Tomorrow I have my ultrasound and hopefully when Rebecca calls me back with the results we will have a better idea of where I'm at and how I'll react to the Clomid so that Grant and Russ can make the final decision on whether to have me go to Dallas next Wednesday for the second ultrasound until the IUI or have me keep monitoring here until I trigger and then fly to Dallas just for the IUI. Whew!
